Sycamore Reservation

Regular Fall camporees were held every October from 1955 thru 1980. Scouts from both the USA and Canada were regular participants to include the largest in 1966 with 993 scouts to include 5 scouts who were exchange students from other countries. Boy Scout troops, Cub packs, girl scout troops and other youth organizations continue to have use of the camp property, streams, small pond and the popular creek hike, as well as Nigh Brook cascades.
In the 60's thru 1990's, International events were hosted for visitors and foreign students from the various exchange student programs including AFS. Typically, in the afternoon, a large soccer match would start up on the large grassy field area. On Saturday nights, a campfire sing-along was held along with an old fashioned Square Dance with a live caller.
Various research projects have been conducted by the State University of NY Biology and Geology departments.
